Up to 28 American utility companies have now joined the Regional Equipment Sharing for Transmission Outage Restoration (RESTORE) program which offer an infrastructure for companies to easily share equipment to aid in potential disaster recovery efforts.

The program was first launched in 2016 by the Louisville Gas and Electric Company, Kentucky Utilities Company, PPL Electric Utilities, Tennessee Valley Authority and the Southern Company.

The program, which aligns with the Department of Energy’s Strategic Transformer Reserve Report, allows participants to share transmission equipment such as transformers.
