The construction of a new steel manufacturing plant has begun in Ardakan, central Iran thanks to the engineering of Tenova in consortium with SMS Concast.

The Italian and German companies are constructing the plant for Chadormalu Mining & Industrial Co. (CMIC), and will include an electric arc furnace with a 160 MVA transformer.

Tenova’s electric arc furnace will be the first in Iran to produce steel using a mix of cold direct-reduced iron (DRI) and scrap.
