American diversified energy company FirstEnergy Corp. has recently made a proposal to the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) for a redesign and modernization of distribution systems for Ohio Edison, Cleveland Electric Illuminating and Toledo Edison subsidiaries.

The project looks to invest U.S. $450 million within three years, and will help to prevent power outages while also working on ways to restore power faster at times of outages.

FirstEnergy anticipates the project to reduce outages by 30 per cent or more, on average.
