A transformer station for the 60-turbine offshore wind farm in the German part of the Baltic Sea has been put into position.

According to E.ON, who is constructing the Arkona wind farm alongside Norway’s Statoil, the transformer station was installed on its foundations following a journey which started at a French shipyard.

The station weighs more than 5,000 tons and stands at about 27 meters.

Commissioning of the wind farm is planned for 2019.
