New substation for Wakapuaka

Network Tasman has started work on a new substation in the township of Wakapuaka, New Zealand.
The new construction is for an indoor substation on company-owned land in Wakapuaka. The substation will help meet the significant load growth in the Hira and Wakapuaka areas.
As part of the project, a large amount of gravel has been brought in to compact the site prior to construction and will be removed before construction begins.
The development has been subject to extensive resource consent processes, and once completed, the finished floor level of the building will be 1.5 metres above the existing ground level.
The new substation is one of three planned projects Network Tasman has for 2018-19, the others being an upgrade to the Motueka substation and a new 11kV feeder in New Annesbrook.
