BHEL to manufacture high speed rail equipment

Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Japanese company Kawasaki to manufacture equipment for a high-speed rail project.

The equipment is destined for both military and bullet trains although a full contract has yet to be signed.

BHEL Chairman Managing Director Atul Sobati said: “The order is yet to come for the bullet train and the Metro, as the tender process has to be done after the agreement with Japan’s Kawasaki Company.”

BHEL is working in all sectors of the economy, renewable energy, defence, transmission.”

“If I give some examples, then five bulbs are burning, then there are three bulbs are made in the supply depot of BHEL. Indian Railways working on a very big project, it includes 30,000 km of electrification, most of order will be given to BHEL.”
