Consortium wins Chisinau substation modernisation contract

An association of companies comprising of Siemens Energy SRL, Electromontaj SA, and Energotech SA have won a contract to modernise the Chisinau substation.
The 330 kV Chisinau power station modernisation contract was signed between Moldova’s Consolidated Unit for the Implementation and Monitoring of Energy Projects (UCIPE) and this consortium of companies.
According to the contract, the association of companies will be responsible for the design, supply and installation of the necessary equipment for the modernization of the power station. The value of the contract is €11,883,842.98 and the implementation period is 32 months from the date of entry into force of the contract.
The modernization works of the 330 kV Chisinau power station, together with the construction works of the 400 kV overhead power transmission line in the direction of Vulcanesti – Chisinau, will be carried out within the Electric Power System Development Project (PDSE), financed by to the World Bank.
The project supports the general program established by the Government of the Republic of Moldova for the asynchronous interconnection of the country’s electricity system to the European single electricity market, through the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, thus increasing the security of electricity supply and creating opportunities for the development of a competitive energy market at both national and regional level.
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development is the authority responsible for the implementation of the Project in accordance with the Financing Agreements signed with the World Bank, which entered into force on March 24, 2020.
