Netze BW GmbH has begun renewing and strengthening the electricity grid in Groß- and Kleinengstingen with several measures, including new transformer stations.

It is installing new transformer stations in order to optimally integrate the planned photovoltaic systems on schools and gymnasiums into the power grid and is also taking the opportunity to lay new underground cables to replace overhead lines and power cables that are susceptible to interference.

The civil engineering work will begin on 16 March in Kleinengstingen in Sternbergstraße. Firstly, a new transformer station will be built near the primary school and new cables will be laid in the ground between Feldwiesenweg and Falkenstraße to replace the old 20,000-volt overhead line.

In Großengstingen, the transformer station in the basement of the Freibühlhalle will be replaced by a modern and more powerful system in front of the hall in the course of spring. This new transformer station will then not only be able to integrate the schools’ photovoltaic systems into the grid but will later also be able to supply the newly planned Schafäcker construction area with electricity.
