Scottish Power offer reward after substation fire

Scottish Power Energy Networks has offered a £5,000 reward to catch vandals responsible for a substation fire in Cambuslang yesterday.

The blaze on Burn Terrace, Cambuslang, left around 2,500 homes and businesses without power from just after 6.30pm on Monday 8th July.

According to the provider, damage from the deliberate fire left the substation completely destroyed.

Repairs to the site are likely to cost the company upwards of £50,000.

Scottish Power and Energy released a statement on Twitter today appealing for information.

They said: “Vandals set fire to a substation in Cambuslang on Monday night risking lives and causing 2,500 properties to lose power.

“£5000 reward offered for info leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.”
