Installation of a new 28 MVA T-2 transformer has begun at At-Bashinskaya HPP in Kyrgyzstan.

The “Reconstruction of At-Bashinskaya HPP” project is aimed at improving safety, improving reliability, increasing the stability of the network and units, as well as reducing subsequent activities on the operation and maintenance of the station.

The importance of reconstruction and modernization of the At-Bashinskaya hydroelectric station for the region is key. A hydroelectric power station covers 30% of the region’s electricity needs and regulates mains voltage and load in winter.

This project is funded by grant funds from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economics. The project provides for the replacement of existing electrical and mechanical equipment with new ones. General Electric Renewable (Switzerland) is the general contractor for the replacement of electromechanical equipment.

Installation is expected to be completed on September 20, 2019.
