Transformer fire at Tamil Nadu substation

A transformer caught fire at a power station in Pugalur in Tamil Nadu.

A 100 MVA transformer at the substation caught fire while technicians were on duty. It was one of three transformers at the substation.

Fire and rescue services personnel in the southern Indian state arrived on the scene to put the fire out.

Local District Collector ( an Administrative Service officer) T Anbazhagan visited the scene and said “An electrical short circuit could have caused the fire. The technical team will analyse the cause of the short circuit.”

Anbazhagan said efforts were made to ensure uninterrupted power supply.
